Our Vision, Mission, and Values

Vision

Toward an inclusive world for persons with albinism, free from brutality and discrimination.

Mission

AAN promotes the rights, well-being, and inclusion of people with albinism in Africa through advocacy, capacity development, and collaboration.

Values

AAN’s core values are:

A Culture of Accountability

We believe resilient and effective movements are built on integrity, mutual respect, trust, an openness to continuous learning and adaptability. We cultivate genuine exchange and a learning environment that facilitates opportunities for growth among our team and partners.

Center the Voices of People with Albinism

We honor and uphold the dignity of people with albinism through careful consultation, ensuring their views are heard, valued, and respected. We are committed to facilitating the inclusion of diverse viewpoints, and design learning and exchange opportunities based on the community’s needs.

Prioritize Collaboration & Partnerships

We build collaborative movements that leverage the unique strengths and experiences of our partners. We maximize impact through sustained partnerships across a range of stakeholders toward addressing the array of challenges affecting people with albinism while building resilient albinism movements.

Commitment to Equity & Inclusion

We challenge inequitable power structures by investigating the root causes of discriminatory practices to identify equitable solutions. We prioritize dismantling structural inequities experienced by people with albinism, particularly women impacted by albinism, supporting the development of their capacities to problem-solve, lead and thrive.

Advance Justice

We are committed to repairing harm against people with albinism through challenging human rights abuses and holding governments accountable. We document and publicize rights violations toward strengthening protection measures and achieving justice. Internally, practicing justice cultivates a positive organizational culture characterized by strong relationships, a reputation for fairness, and ethical behavior.
