Activities implementing the AU Plan of Action
With limited resources, AAN currently focuses its National Action Plan efforts on eight countries: Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Togo, and Zambia. They represent a range of Anglophone, Francophone and Lusophone countries. AAN assists these countries in drafting National Action Plan on albinism in line with the AU Plan of Action (2021-2031) and getting plans adopted by government with a multi-year budget.
We currently serve other countries across Africa through capacity development including through joint advocacy at the United Nations and African Union.
In its pilot phase, AAN considers all albinism advocacy groups in the Africa region as general members of the Network. We seek out partnerships with various organizations, focusing on those representing persons with albinism, in accordance with their strategic plans to actualize their mission.
